Diploma in Law

The Diploma in Law is not only a qualification in its own right, but also provides an entry route to the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. A successful completion of the Diploma gains credit for the first four subjects of the LLB degree. This programme aims to provide a solid grounding of the law subjects and develops one's ability to critically evaluate the usefulness of law in different contexts and perspectives. Admission into the Diploma in Law programme is through the Diploma in Law Admissions Test. This involves the application of a set of legal regulations to a problem, requiring fact management,analytical and writing skills. It does not require any prior legal knowledge.

This diploma is recommended if you:

• Have the ability to study law but do not have the required academic qualifications
• Wish to have a foundation in legal studies before deciding if you wish to take a law degree
• Are interested in gaining a recognised award to support your admission into an overseas university for law studies

Programme Structure

The Diploma consists of 4 units and is taken over one year. The Diploma is also an alternative route to those who may not be able to qualify for the LLB programme directly. After completing the Diploma in Law, you can apply to read for the degree programme at the approved university by the Ministry of Law, Singapore.
