Programme Objectives:
The Mechanical Engineering degree at RMIT University is applied and industry-focused, and of relevance to international industries. The overall objective of the programme is for its graduates to be employable and effective mechanical engineers in a national and international context.
Its aim is to improve personal and interpersonal skills through a curriculum developed around student organised work activities. The Programme includes work modules on experimentation, industrial visits, design activities, computing applications and metal forming and cutting processes. The organisational structure of the Programme supports the development of leadership skills, initiative, self-reliance, personal and group organisation skills and a sense of group responsibility and accountability.
The Mechanical Engineering programme has a ‘real world’ focus based on problem project based active learning approach. Student learning outcomes are continually assessed through a combination of written assignments, presentations, projects, laboratory work, examinations and final year project theses. The standards of these assessment components are the same as those for RMIT Mechanical Engineering on-campus students. Upon the successful completion of the program students will be awarded the RMIT Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) degree, identical to on-campus students.
Professional Recognition:
The Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) program is fully accredited by Engineers Australia and also the Institute of Engineers Singapore. Accreditation in Singapore and recognition of Qualifications can be verified through IDP Education Australia, www.idp.com and
