The University of London degrees through the international study option has been available since 1858 and provides opportunities for those who are either late bloomers or have qualifications which does not allow for direct entry into a degree programme. As a University of London graduate myself, I am well aware of the University’s rigorous and sound assessment system whilst allowing open access to many who may not otherwise qualify for a good degree education.

The University of London diplomas are equivalent to the first year of the relevant degrees and were developed to allow students who do not have the traditional entry qualifications to pursue an undergraduate degree qualification. Students who successfully complete the diploma may gain direct second year entry into the relevant degree programme, thus allowing them to graduate within a 3 or 4 year duration. The diplomas are also suitable for those who are intending to pursue their degree studies overseas and who wish to use the diploma award to meet the entry requirements of the respective degree programme. The diplomas are also popular with those who are currently serving their national service as it allows them complete the diploma programme part-time and thereby saving one or two years of their study plan.

When selecting a diploma programme to embark on it is important that you choose a pathway which is relevant and appropriate to your area of interest for further studies at degree level. At the undergraduate level, it is advisable to take a more broad-based or double degrees unless you are very clear about your career choice.

If your desire is to be successful in the commercial world, it is important that you obtain a good degree that would further demonstrate your desire to work hard. Compared to the local universities, the University of London has a greater recognition globally. The diploma that you will receive is from University of London and is awarded in association with the lead colleges of the University like London School of Economics, Kings College, Queen Mary, University College, London and Goldsmiths College which ensure that the high academic standards of the University as a whole is maintained.
