Message from the Head of Department
As a program of study focused on the humanities, The University of London B.A in English opens diverse possibilities for students. A distinctive group, set apart by their enhanced empathy and perception of communication, students who complete this degree will find a wide choice of career paths before them.

The study of literature offers a uniquely multidisciplinary field of sociological investigation that reaches into a range of other topics including history, psychology, aesthetics, politics, even science and religion. However, by staying rooted in the colourful and imaginative spirit of fiction, poetry and drama, this program of study never strays into the constrained, academically dry atmosphere typically associated with such topics.

Engaging in literary study presents not only a stimulating challenge but, perhaps more importantly, the University of London B.A in English helps hone graduates’ creative edge while imbuing them with a cultural sophistication and social perspicacity that will give them a noticeable advantage in the working world.

That you have chosen to consider the study of English literature is, I believe, no coincidence. Students on the programme at Stansfield are distinguished by their ability to expressively communicate their thoughts in a clear yet vibrant manner that actively reflects the vibrant approach they take to their studies.

I look forward to having you on the programme.
