Awarded by University of London

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE

The Diploma in Law consists of 4 subjects and is identical to the subjects offered in the first year of the LL.B degree from the University of London. It can be completed in one year (full-time) or two years (part-time).

The Diploma in Law is an attractive route to those who are interested in being admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore but who do not qualify for the normal route.

The Diploma in Law has also been designed as an alternative route to those who may not be able to enter the LL.B directly, that is, for those who may not have the necessary ‘A’ level qualification. These students (who should be at least 17 years of age as at 1 September 2007) would be required to take an admissions test and interview.

DIPLOMA STRUCTURE

Students are required to take 4 subjects and pass all four subjects in order to successfully complete the Diploma. On successful completion, students may proceed to the second year of the LL.B. The Diploma is examined to the same standard as the first year of the LL.B degree.
