Why pursue this?
A century ago, the first business schools were developed as a result of the United States War Department’s need to study non-traditional strategies to conquer its enemies. This anecdote is very telling, for today’s competitive business environment is much like a war – it requires rigorous  intelligence,  strategic thinking and decisive execution.

Throughout history, from Benjamin Franklin to Thomas Edison and Bill Gates, great business people have been strong readers. As a business student, you should therefore be prepared to take responsibility for your own reading and to build a strategic thinking mindset.

A good business education is not about making money but about creating value for others, and one of the key advantages of studying for a business or management degree is that it develops a winning or strategic mindset within individuals which enables them to take on any business or personal challenges. The study of business itself emerged from the broader study of economics and this is usually a compulsory subject which forms the basis for any advanced units.
